Serenity Now is a professional music group lead by Stacy Bearden (piano/vocals) with Matt Burke (guitar), Jill Olson (bass), and Mickey Smith (saxophones). Serenity Now plays two different shows per the request of the venue. The pop/rock set includes well-known songs from the 1960's through today’s hits. All music is family-friendly and great for restaurants, parties and social events. The jazz set includes standards that are sure to please any audience. Based on the entertainment needs and budget, Serenity Now can consist of one or more members allowing for various booking options. Auxiliary members of the group include saxophonist Mickey Smith and drummer Richard Bourk. Stacy Bearden, owner and instructor at Bearden's Music, Inc. in Sulphur, has a degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from McNeese State University. He has taught piano since 1990 and has over twenty years of performance, composing, arranging, and recording experience. Stacy is a featured vocalist, pianist, and bassist at Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Since 1996 Stacy has released multiple CD’s and collections of original music. He is a manager at Delta Downs in Vinton, LA, and has played with bands throughout the Louisiana and Virginia regions. Matt is also a worship leader at Welsh Memorial Methodist Church in Vinton, LA. Jill Olson is a McNeese alumnus and has a Music Performance degree with a concentration in jazz and commercial music. She has played bass for 25 years and is currently teaching elementary music in the Houston area. Jill has played with the Lake Charles Symphony, with the band Bad Habit, and with the Prestonwood Baptist Church orchestra. Mickey Smith has a Master's degree in Music Education from McNeese State University and has over 15 years of performance experience. Mickey teaches band at Maplewood Middle School in Sulphur.
